The Hannibal Arts Council, 105 S Main St, will host a special dinner and performance event at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 22. Dinner+Music combines two great things: food for the body and music for the soul. Admission includes music by talented cellist and music educator Katie Schisler. She will be accompanied by pianist Michael Gaines. Prior to the musical performance, guests will enjoy a variety of homemade soups, breads and desserts. The HAC Program Committee will host the event.
Schisler is currently the music instructor at A.D. Stowell Elementary, instructor of Southside Strings after-school string program and conductor of the Hannibal Area String Orchestra. She is originally from Marshall MO, where she joined the school orchestra in fifth grade. After a year of playing, she was invited to join the Marshall Philharmonic, giving her a great opportunity to grow as a cellist. The Philharmonic later gave her a scholarship that enabled her to come back as a featured soloist. Schisler received a Bachelor of Music Education Vocal/Instrumental from the University of Central Missouri, where she studied under Dr. Michael Bersin. Since then, she has taught general and vocal music in public and private schools, as well as teaching privately.
Cost for the dinner and performance is $20 for the general public, HAC members $15 and students $5. Space is limited and tickets are required. To purchase tickets go online to https://hannibalartscouncil.eventbrite.com, contact HAC at (573) 221-6545 or stop by 105 S Main St (Noon-5 Mon-Fri).
