The June/July Art For The Health Of It exhibit at the Hannibal Arts Council’s satellite gallery at the Hannibal Clinic features quilter Sharon Wasteney of Hannibal.
After retirement as a professional educator and facilitator of learning for 37 years, Wasteney turned her focus to creative quilting. She especially values preserving family traditions through intergenerational sharing of family stories and keeps that in mind when designing quilts to share with others. Personal memories and reflections of nature and rural life are used as inspiration. Her designs start with paper and pencil sketches then moves to the computer to refine and determine color choices. Wasteney values quilts as an art and as a craft that connects and inspires generations to continue quilting traditions.
