The Hannibal Arts Council will present Marty Morrison & Friends in concert at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, at the Hannibal Arts Council, 105 South Main Street in Downtown Hannibal. For one special evening, the Hannibal Arts Council gallery will be transformed into an intimate jazz club setting, offering audiences an up-close musical experience filled with energy, artistry and improvisation.
The performance will feature hometown favorite Marty Morrison on drums, joined by an outstanding ensemble of acclaimed musicians including Brant Jester on piano, Austin Cebulske on saxophone, and Sebastian Arias on bass. Together, these accomplished performers will deliver an evening of exceptional jazz ranging from classic standards to contemporary favorites.
A Hannibal native at heart, jazz drummer and educator Marty Morrison currently serves on the Jazz Studies faculty at Missouri State University in Springfield, MO. Inspired by his father, renowned Hannibal jazz pianist Bill Morrison, Marty was immersed in music from an early age. Over the years, he has collaborated with numerous jazz luminaries and regularly performs in both Kansas City and St. Louis. He holds degrees from Southern Illinois University.
“This concert brings together some of the finest jazz musicians for an evening of world-class music in an intimate setting,” said Michael Gaines, Executive Director of the Hannibal Arts Council. “Whether you’re a longtime jazz enthusiast or simply looking for a unique night out, this is a performance you won’t want to miss.”
