The Hannibal Arts Council will host a basket weaving workshop with Pat Moore on Saturday, June 15 at the Hannibal Arts Council, 105 S Main St. The workshop will run from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. or until participants’ baskets are complete.
The workshop will include instructions for weaving and assembling a Twill Nantucket Basket. Students will get to choose between making a 5-inch or 6-inch diameter basket. The workshop will begin with a brief discussion on the art of basket weaving and weaving techniques using baskets made by the instructor as examples. All supplies will be provided, including necessary tools, and basket base, rim and lid and additional weaving supplies needed to complete the basket.
Instructor Pat Moore, from New Haven, MO., made her first basket in 1999 and has made more than 4,100 baskets since. Moore taught basket weaving at the Vocational School in Washington, MO and currently teaches basket weaving and chair caning in her home studio with a following of approximately 75 students.
